Wizards add front-court depth with Alex Len

The Washington Wizards were searching for a front-court addition, after Thomas Bryant went down with a season-ending injury.

As a result, the DC franchise moved fast to sign Alex Len as soon as he cleared the waivers. The Maryland product started the season with the Toronto Raptors.

Len will sign a one-year deal with the Wizards, according to the Washington Post. He has averaged 7.9 points and 6.2 rebounds for his career.

The center from Ukraine did not live up to the expectations his draft stock created being the fifth overall pick of the 2013 NBA Draft.

However, he still holds his place in the league as a rotational big. The Wizards have not played for weeks due to the league’s health and safety protocols.

They started the season poor with a 3-8 record facing adversity despite Bradley Beal’s MVP type of play.

The status of their Monday’s night matchup against the San Antonio Spurs still is an unknown commodity with health and safety protocols being in place.
