Washington Wizards: Ish Smith to miss 6-8 weeks with quadriceps injury

Washington Wizards veteran point guard Ish Smith ruled out for the next six to eight weeks due to injury, the team announced earlier.

Smith suffered a right proximal quadriceps injury, and he will be re-evaluated again in three weeks by the Wizards’ medical staff.

The veteran point guard had a more limited role this season sharing the back-up point guard duties with Raul Neto. Smith averages 5.2 points and 4.7 assists in 20.5 per game.

Rau Neto is expected to see an increase in minutes, especially with Russell Westbrook not playing in back-to-back games this season.

The Wizards are on a slump since the start of the season with just eight wins in their first 25 games of the 2020/21 regular season campaign.

Despite Bradley Beal’s great season, Washington has hardly found any rhythm as a team and injuries along with a bad structured roster are another reason for that.
