Pistons are reportedly finalizing a deal to send Derrick Rose to the Knicks

The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a deal to send veteran guard Derrick Rose to the New York Knicks, per Shams Charania. Detroit will receive Dennis Smith Jr. and draft compensation in exchange for the former MVP.

According to the report, the Knicks will send a second-round pick to the Pistons, who decided to add more future assets in their rebuilding process.

Rose, who is mostly terrorizing the opposition’s bench mobs in this stage of his career, will be a great addition in the Knicks’ struggling offense. In particular, Tom Thibodeau’s are bottom-5 in bench scoring with just 33.0 points per game.

Rose is averaging 14.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 steals per contest through 15 games this season. The 2011 MVP award recipient will join Elfrid Payton and rookie Immanuel Quickley in the Knicks’ backcourt

On the other hand, the Pistons add another young prospect with something to prove along with a 2021 second-round pick(via Charlotte).

Dennis Smith Jr. was mostly out of New York’s rotation this season and he was preparing to enter the G League bubble, which starts in a few days.

Smith now have the chance to play as a backup point guard with Killian Hayes out with a hip injury. The former No. 9 overall pick of the 2017 draft averaged 8.7 points in 58 games with the Knicks.
