Minnesota Timberwolves: D’Angelo Russell sidelined for 4-6 weeks

Minnesota Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell will miss the next four to six weeks with a knee issue. Russell will undergo an arthroscopic surgery to remove a loose body in his left knee.

Russell was not his usual self during the first months of the season. He averages 19.3 points on 42.6-percent from the field with the Timberwolves having the worst record in the league.

Ricky Rubio will be the unquestioned started point guard until Russell gets back. The T-Wolves also ruled out Jarrett Culver from Tuesday’s game vs. the Lakers.

Minnesota will prefer to keep its lottery pick next season so they have every incentive to lose as many games as possible this year.

If their lottery pick fall outside the Top-3 in the next draft, the Wolves’ selection will go to the Golden State Warriors as part of the D’Angelo Russell trade last season.
