Andre Drummond to sit while Cleveland Cavaliers seeking trade, per report

Andre Drummond is officially in the trading block, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier. Drummond is expected to be an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The Cavs’ big will follow the team, but he won’t play any minutes with the JB Bickerstaff promoting Jarrett Allen in the starting center role.

It’s unclear if Cleveland is already in talks with other franchises for trading Drummond, but a potential trade partner will have to cover a $28.7 million contract in trade assets.

Drummond has averaged 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds this season in 25 starts with several teams being interested in the former Pistons’ bigman, according to ESPN’s report.

Allen, who was part of the James Harden’s blockbuster deal earlier in the season, has a strong start in his career in Cleveland coming off the bench.

Allen has played in 15 games with the Cavs, averaging 13.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per contest. He was recently moved to the starting lineup as he blends well with the rest of Cleveland’s young core.
